A problem with a few of Lush's bath bombs- especially the newer additions.

My only problem with this product was that the scent dissipates in the water. There's also just something really appealing about orange jelly- it seems to be a bit more of a fit when compared with the colours in the other jelly bombs. The combination of the bright orange colour, thick jelly layer and fruity scent is fantastic in capturing the essence of marmalade. The bomb dissolves away, creating both orange and yellow fizz.Īlthough Dark Arts has all the drama, I really love how Marmalade looks in the tub. I will say, I've tried three of the jelly bombs now and this one definitely produces the least amount of jelly- that will be a plus or a minus depending on your viewpoint. In the water, Marmalade produces a layer of jelly that floats at the surface of the water (same as all the jelly bombs). Who knows- we're clearly not smelling the same thing. Some have had a really visceral response to this scent and actually hate it- which I find very strange as I consider this to be a fairly typical citrus blend. I've seen quite a lot of feedback from other Lushies saying that they really dislike the Marmalade fragrance. Now, weirdly the controversy surrounding this product is to do with its scent. I really like this fragrance, which isn't a surprise as the Dashing Santa scent is one of my absolute favourites. The Marmalade scent is also quite similar to Mandarin's Tea Party soap and very similar in aesthetic- right down to the orange slices. I think the main difference between them is that the Dashing Santa scent is a bit sweeter and a bit fizzier, whereas Marmalade is dryer and a touch more sophisticated. They don't have the same ingredients but I would almost call them 'sister scent families'. So much so that I compared ingredients just to make sure. To me, this scent is EXTREMELY similar to the Dashing Santa / Satsuma scent family. The inclusion of the grapefruit helps to add a zestiness and a slight bitterness which is reminiscent of actual marmalade. You get the sweetness and fruitiness of the orange but the whole thing is a bit more elevated thanks to the orange flower. Scent-wise, Marmalade is everything I expected it to be. I also think it just makes the most sense in terms of a jelly bomb, since marmalade (the preserve) is actually a type of jelly. It features a yellow and orange exterior with orange slice design on the top. To look at, I actually think Marmalade is the most eye catching out of the jelly bombs. Featuring a blend of grapefruit, orange and orange flower oils, I just knew I'd fall in love with this fragrance. Even if you are a beginner in the bath bomb making art, with this molding set you can do great!
